For those first time readers, I have a lot of opinions and shit during the game. So after we go over my live thoughts as they were timestamped during the game.
7:57 Why did all of these guys pick the Celtics? Dumbass ESPN man.
8:00 Oh Luka is apparently hurt. He’s quickly become a player who is gonna snap every time with injury concerns. Like an anti-Embiid unless he’s really fucked up. I’m feeling good about the Mavs .
8:03 Someone in the group chat was complaining about start time and how it was gonna be late. Clearly they always gonna start at least ten minutes after as they have been our entire lives. Stop crying.
8:10 I gotta give the Celtics credit, yeah I threw up a little writing this, but for a second straight game the stadium rocking heavy.
8:12 Great early start for the Mavs, as PJ (Finally) hit a three to make it 7-2.
8:16 Kyrie got blocked then rebounded the ball and hit a fade away jumper to make it 13-6 Mavs. This start is the complete opposite of Game 1 so now we get to find out if they will actually fight back.
8:26 An out loud “DAMN JAYLEN” moment on the crossover dunk to make it 13-10. Also kleba has missed two straight open threes and already looks fucking terrified of the basketball. Just makes this another Mavs player who can’t hit a three.
8:38 Celtics capitalizing on the bonus free throws and these non Luka minutes. The Lead went up a little but and then dropped right back down to 22-20. The Celtics fought for these free throws but I can’t even say that they were flopping. There were a lot of form tackles happening that whole first quarter.
8:44 The game continues to ebb back and forth. It’s a classic game with the Celtics missing a bunch of threes early but this time they’re only down 3. Which begs the question: Is this an inevitable comeback or shitty shooting?
8:53 Celtics got the lead off a Derrick White three on an ugly stretch. It felt like a gut punch given the fact that Luka was doing his best Dirk impersonation. As the game really slowed down Joe Mazz called a timeout with the one point lead. “If Tatum can just play decent they have this series” has now entered the lexicon.
9:21 Why has Tatum taken the most shots on the team when Jrue clearly is carrying this team at half? I know I know I’m “obsessed” with Tatum and he’s got some assists but it seems like he’s the only one on the team who takes these dumb shots. Either way Jrue has found out how to exploit the Mavs defense in position for layups on the block during drives and is working.
9:28 The second half is starting can Luka carry, or can Kyrie wake up.
9:43 Derrick came out air balling shit now. I do not like the feel of this. Also Jrue continues to fucking carry and everyone else just pitching in as the lead for Boston balloons to 75-63.
9:59 The Mavs fought at the end of the third which was great. Of course then Pritchard decides to hit a buzzer beating bomb off the backboard to go up 83-74. Pain
10:10 Kyrie finally was able to make some layups with no Porzingus on the court, but at 90-83 he is coming back into the game. Also I really can’t stop watching Tatum do this fold shit and weird shots that he has no business taking with a lead, or training.
10:15 It’s back to 8 and Porzingus is hurt. Scary hours are happening in Boston and Luka might be in striking distance.
10:20 As someone who took the Mavs to win the series Jrue Holliday is pissing me off. Every time they really need a shot he’s either hitting a three or getting some weird ass rebounds. The type of timely shit that gives announcers wet dreams as they talk about, “Championship DNA.”
10:27 Luka gave it all he had but with the Celtics leading 103-98 Jaylen just attacked the basket and got a game clinching drive with 30 seconds left.
This game caused a lot of debate and blanket statements, which I’ll get to tomorrow but at least it was a better game. Luka had 33/10/10 on over 50 percent shooting, while the Celtics were 6-29 from three and the distance was sizable. However the game was better and whispers of people calling the Celtics an all time great team is starting. All I will say is Mavs in 6 is in a little danger.
